OM-Medien: Efficient news production with the Purple Hub

OM media

PRODUKTE

The OM media group is a regional publishing house in northwestern Germany. Her news portal om-online.de provides the Oldenburger Münsterland region and its 23 cities and municipalities with regional and supra-regional news and content. Both free and paid content are published. In addition to classic articles, digital versions of print newspapers as e-papers and multimedia content, such as podcasts and video formats, are also available to readers online.

As part of a realignment of their digital platform, OM Media decided to replace the previous editor they used with the editor from Purple. With Purple Hub, the two regional newspapers Münsterländische Tageszeitung and Oldenburgische Volkszeitung are successfully implementing their digital presence.

In search of an alternative to the formerly used editor, OM media found what they were looking for with Purple Editorial, the AI-based multichannel publishing content management system. Purple Hub is part of Purple Editorial and is tailored to the specific requirements of the editorial team. Purple has successfully implemented these requirements by integrating helpful features for the daily use of article creation.

“The Purple team provided us with professional support from the start and ensured that the changeover went smoothly. Thanks to Purple's intuitive user interface and features, we're now well equipped to make our content efficient and innovative.” Guido van de Lageweg, Product Manager, OM Media

When using the Purple Hub, OM Media is impressed by the functionality and simple, effective usability of the system. The editorial team's transition to Purple Hub went smoothly. Purple supports the daily work of editors with selected features to improve workflows and increase efficiency.

Work more efficiently in the editor with selected features

The newspapers Münsterländische Tageszeitung and Oldenburgische Volkszeitung of the OM media provide their readers with daily updates on the most important news from the fields of politics, society, sport, culture and business. The rapid publication of current news is particularly important in order to meet readers' expectations of always being informed. With the Purple Wires feature, OM media can do just that. Purple Wires is an integration of the DPA system that automatically imports agency reports. The import takes place at regular intervals, the articles are saved and are available for editors to edit. With Purple Wires, editors import and publish DPA reports much more efficiently.

All other content is created and published in the editor using ready-made, optimized templates. This allows the editors at OM media to easily and efficiently create various content — from articles to image galleries to native advertisements.

OM Media also benefits from the integration of the planning system from our partner Kordiam, which is replicated unidirectionally in Purple Hub. This function ensures a transparent and coordinated way of working in the editorial department. This is used to plan editorial content and work processes, manage rights and issue approvals. The tool makes collaboration within the editorial team much easier.

Ready for the digital future thanks to Purple Hub

Purple's successful implementation of OM media ideas is particularly reflected in the fact that the conversion to the new editor took place with minimal effort on the part of the editorial staff. With Purple, the editors of the Münsterländische Tageszeitung and the Oldenburgische Volkszeitung work efficiently and productively on content for readers in the region.

“What's particularly useful about Purple's editor is that it's easy to customize and extend. Purple adapts perfectly to our needs and working with the Purple team was always easy and productive,” said key feedback from Guido van de Lageweg, project manager at OM Media. With this project, the company's ideas were fully implemented in accordance with the wishes.

Equipped with the Purple Hub, the editors of the OM media group are ready to actively shape the digital future of local journalism — and to continue to stay close to people in the region with their content.
